What is a vector file, and why does my signwriter want one?+
A vector file is drawn with shapes and lines, not pixels, so it can be made any size and stay sharp. Signs, vehicle graphics, embroidery and most professional printing need one. Common vector file types are PDF, EPS, AI and SVG.
I only have a JPEG, or a logo saved from my website. Can you use that?+
Yes. That is enough to redraw from. A screenshot, a scan of your letterhead or a photo of a business card or sign will work too.
What is a logo redraw?+
Your logo is rebuilt by hand as vector artwork, matching the original. It looks the same as it always has, and it now works at any size, from a pen to the side of a building.
What is the difference between a logo redraw and a logo refresh?+
A redraw copies your logo faithfully. A refresh improves it: tidier spacing, better lettering and updated colours, while keeping it recognisable to your customers.
What are brand guidelines, and does a small business need them?+
Brand guidelines record your logo versions, colours and fonts, with the rules for using them. If more than one person or supplier produces things for your business, guidelines save time and stop expensive mistakes.
I bought a business and have no logo files. What can I do?+
Send whatever exists, even a photo of the signage. Your logo can be redrawn, and the colours and fonts identified and recorded, so you own a complete set of files from here on.
Will my logo look different afterwards?+
A redraw is a faithful recreation, so it should look the same. Small differences can occur where the original artwork is missing or poor quality. With a refresh, it changes only as much as you want it to. You see and approve everything before it is finalised.
Which logo files will I receive?+
PDF, EPS and SVG files for print and signage, and PNG, JPEG and WebP files for websites, social media and office use. Each comes in full colour, black and white, sorted into clearly named folders.
Who owns the logo files?+
You do, once the final invoice is paid. Before a redraw or refresh, you will be asked to confirm that your business owns the existing logo.
Are the prices on this page fixed?+
No. They are guide prices to help you budget. Every job is quoted individually, because logos and businesses vary. Once you accept your written quote, that price is fixed.
What is a brand board?+
A brand board is a one-page summary of your brand: your logo versions, colours and fonts at a glance. It is the page you email to a signwriter, printer or web designer so they have the essentials straight away.
Do you do market research or brand strategy?+
Brand Rescue covers the design: your logo, colours, fonts and guidelines. If you need market research to see where a new brand sits, or wider marketing strategy, talk to Creative Edge Marketing. Pocket Rocket Design works with them as their design partner, so the research and the design stay joined up.
How long does it take?+
As a guide, a logo suite is ready within about 5 working days of your deposit, and brand guidelines follow about 5 working days after that. A new brand takes longer. Your quote will give a timeframe for your job.
How does payment work?+
A 50% deposit is paid when you accept the quote. The balance is due within 7 days of the final invoice, and before final files are released.
Do you work with businesses outside Auckland?+
Yes. Pocket Rocket Design is based in Auckland and works remotely with businesses across New Zealand and Australia.
